Refrigeration / HVAC Startup Service Technician

Job Description

MCI seeks a Refrigeration / HVAC Startup Service Technician with 5 years of hands-on experience in the service and startup of Refrigeration and Commercial HVAC Equipment with a primary background in Refrigeration. The position reports to the Service Manager. MCI is located out of Charlotte NC, however, with large services contracts located in Rock Hill and Columbia, we are looking to create a partnership with field-based technicians in South Carolina. Our ideal candidate will be responsible, reliable, and able to operate independently while receiving support and direction from an established and highly qualified team operating across the region. Service vehicles and gas cards are provided by MCI.

Essential Duties

  • Performs pre-functional inspections/checklist and start-up of Refrigeration and Commercial HVAC systems.
  • Performs installation, diagnostic, and repairs on systems at the time of startup and warranty period.
  • Interprets drawings, submittal data, and installation/operation manuals to provide complete startup per manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Documents work by completing all paperwork electronically on each job for each piece of equipment.
  • Assist installation mechanics in completing and mounting of field-installed devices on equipment prior to start up as needed.
  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Work with Commissioning agents as required and complete required documentation.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a current valid driver’s license and must be able to pass a drug test and comprehensive background check.
  • Must have extensive knowledge in the construction and operation of various Refrigeration and HVAC systems including but not limited to DX systems, water-based cooling, and heating system.
  • Must have experience with standard operations and maintenance of Refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the service/startup of HVAC equipment ranging from CSC, split systems, pumps, VAV boxes, etc. with a strong background in Refrigeration startup and service
  • Must have controls experience both hands-on (wiring concepts) and with controls software.
  • Must have current knowledge of common installation codes and practices.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and related tasks and functions.
  • Must be computer literate and able to use Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Experience with CX Alloy or similar software is highly preferred.

Compensation$27.00 – $35.00 per hour based on experience.
